What is a Long Distance Move?

Long Distance Moving

Long distance or cross country moves, are considered different than local or intrastate moves due to moving across state lines. Long distance moves are also referred to as cross country or interstate moves. Most moving companies are restricted by region but Montauk I-495 Transporting has a nationwide network that spans coast-to-coast. Contact us with any questions and our dedicated support staff will be glad to help.

Local Moving

Local moves are short distance moves that are usually only a few mins or hours away and within the same state. The distance traveled and is what determines if a move is local, intrastate or long distance.

Intrastate Moving

Intrastate moves are moves done within the same state you reside. This means moving to a different city in the same state. Even though these moves are are in the same state the distance traveled is too far to be considered local (i.e moving from Los Angeles to San Fransico).

Move-In Day Checklist

The first night in your new space can be hectic. We recommend packing a box with items you’ll need on the first night. Items like food, clean clothes, hygiene products, cleaning supplies, etc. This will help make it a smooth transition while you’re still getting settled in.

Destination Checklist

During the planning phase you should identify which items will be going where. i.e, is this going to the new place? Trash? Is it going to storage? i This checklist simple task will help you sort thru your belongings and make packing so much easier with everything separated

Non-Allowable Checklist

In order to operate safely, We want to make sure you know what items (e.g., explosives, flammable gases and toxic substances) are restricted and should not be packed with your shipment.

Packing Supplies Checklist
